on stubborn hope...

I read somewhere that Lent is a season of stubborn hope. And so we are here.

April has begun and we are inching (or barreling) toward Easter - and all that Easter means for us. Resurrection. Life. Redemption. God always with us.

And yet. So many in our world are struggling. Friends are facing terminal illness. Our parents are aging and struggling with health crisis. Good people die unexpectedly and families are changed forever. Our communities feel divided.

In our beloved Haiti, the value of the gourde is plummeting. Economic stability feels out of reach. Mothers to be face enormous risks in childbirth. Jobs are hard to come by. Children go hungry. Families face chaos on the streets.

And yet. And still. We hope. For stronger families, for successful harvests, for sharing of resources, for wise doctors, for close friends, for safe travels, for a better tomorrow, for new opportunities.

For God With Us. This Lent, may we feel His presence in our stubborn hope.
