It is easy to see the beauty of the landscape and the people when you are far from home. Italy with the cobblestone roads. Spain with its fantastic beaches. Ireland with all the green. Alaska with the northern lights.

When you imagine Haiti, what is the beauty you see? I see the beautiful beaches, the mountains that reach to the sky, the lakes filled with fishermen. I see waterfalls and paths that crisscross through villages. I see red and orange and yellow flowers and tall coconut trees. I see women sitting on porches and sharing conversations and laughter. I see men working together to fix a neighbor's problem. I see children filled with hope. I see beauty in Haiti.

Do you see the beauty in your life? Look around you as you walk through life this weekend. See the beauty that surrounds your home, your community, your life. Imagine the beauty your friends in Haiti see in their home, their community, their life. And be thankful. For God is good.
